The Art of Daily Life


The other day it struck me in how many ways living a fulfilling life is like creating art.  It was profound, because up until now I have approached life like an equation.  You put this in, you’ll get this out, and in many ways I think that is true, but life can be summed up pretty eloquently through the eyes of the artist.

In art, one has to apply oneself in the hopes of making something that is worthwhile.  There are no guarantees in art, but the artist chooses to press on anyway.  As they practice in their respective medium frustration is inevitable and successes can be few and far between. Failures are dime a dozen, and to continue to make art, the artist must persevere.  The artist practices for years, constantly reassessing their techniques, looking at their pieces through the eyes of others, and trying to progress, with what…
